How Much Does House Cleaning Cost in Brooklyn?
The honest answer up front: our jobs run $80-$400. A studio standard clean sits at the bottom of that range and a large brownstone deep clean or move out clean sits at the top. Anyone who quotes you a single number for "cleaning in Brooklyn" without asking about your home is guessing. The useful thing we can do here is show you exactly what moves a quote up or down, so the number you get makes sense.
The four things that set the price
1. Size
Bedrooms and bathrooms are the biggest driver, because they predict cleaning time better than square footage alone. A one-bed one-bath is a fundamentally different job from a three-bed two-bath duplex, even at similar square footage, because bathrooms and kitchens are where the hours go. Brooklyn adds its own wrinkle: a "two bedroom" can be a compact new-construction unit in Williamsburg or two floors of a Bed-Stuy brownstone with a staircase between them. That is why quote forms ask more than one question.
2. Service type
A standard clean is maintenance: floors, surfaces, kitchen, bathrooms. A deep clean adds baseboards, frames, sills, fixtures, and buildup removal, and takes roughly twice the time, which is reflected in the price. A move out clean adds the insides (oven, fridge, cabinets, closets) and prices highest. Matching service type to reality matters: booking a standard clean for an apartment that needs a deep clean leads to either an unfinished job or an on-site upcharge conversation nobody enjoys.
3. Condition
A home cleaned two weeks ago and a home cleaned eight months ago are different jobs in the same floor plan. Some services price condition with a multiplier, some (like us) fold it into the service type by recommending a deep clean first. Either way, honesty at booking saves money: describing the apartment accurately gets you a real quote instead of a walkthrough surprise.
4. Add-ons
Inside the oven, inside the fridge, interior windows, laundry, and pet hair treatment are the usual add-ons across the industry. They add time, so they add cost. The pattern to watch for is not the add-ons themselves but services that quote low and reclassify basics as add-ons at the door. Ask what is included before booking, with any company.
Hourly vs flat rate
Brooklyn cleaners generally price one of two ways. Hourly rates look cheap per hour but open-ended on total, and the incentive runs the wrong way: slower work earns more. Flat rate (what we use) prices the job, not the hours: you know the total before anyone arrives, and the incentive is to work well, not long. Independent cleaners often charge less than companies, with real trade-offs on the other side of that discount: insurance, backup coverage when someone is sick, and recourse if something goes wrong. Neither choice is wrong; just know which trade you are making.
How recurring service changes the math
Recurring cleans are cheaper per visit everywhere in the industry, because a maintained home takes less time and a predictable schedule is worth paying for. Our discounts: $25 off weekly visits, 10% off bi-weekly, and 5% off monthly, plus priority scheduling. Bi-weekly is the most popular cadence in Brooklyn by a wide margin: frequent enough that the home never slides backward, infrequent enough that the cost stays reasonable. The standard playbook is a one-time deep clean to establish the baseline, then recurring apartment cleaning to hold it.
Questions that protect you, whoever you hire
Is the price flat or hourly, and what happens if the job runs long? What exactly is included, and what is an add-on? Are the cleaners insured? Do you bring supplies and equipment? When do I pay? (We charge after the clean, once you are satisfied, by card or Zelle; anyone demanding full payment up front before ever seeing your home deserves skepticism.) And if the building needs a Certificate of Insurance, can they provide one? Any established service answers these in one message. Evasiveness on any of them is the actual red flag, more than any specific number.
